Skiing Second Creek - The Broome Hut
A friend of mine and I have made several trips this winter up to the Second Creek basin and the new Broome Hut. It's a wonderful trip, only about a mile long and 800 vertical feet, but great open skiing on the trip down, and a warm place for lunch.
The Broome Hut sits at 11,300 feet, a marvel of engineering and comfort in the alpine tundra.
The Hut has a day use room for folks to use as a lunch stop and refuge from the cold and wind.
The main part of the Hut is reservations only, booked through the Grand Huts Association:
The views from the area are fantastic.
But the best part of a trip to the Broome Hut is the ski down, through glades of evergreens and powder.
