Blue Sky, Red Sand
The area around Hatch Point in the Canyon Rims Recreation Area of Utah has long been a favorite of mine. It's seldom crowded, there aren't any famous arches or canyons, and it's relatively unregulated, being run by the BLM.
The land in Trough Springs Canyon, and out near the Anticline Overlook at the end of the long dirt road, are wonderful places to explore. The exploration by the oil companies, and the ranchers running a few head of cattle, have given us rough dirt tracks for access into the canyons and mesas that otherwise would be out of reach to the average soul.
I hope you enjoy this collection of photographs, taken during the sunsets of a recent trip. The sky in Canyon Rims can be near unbelievable then, even illuminating the sand and cliffs with shades of purple, lavender and blue.
